First Global Application of Archaeogene Technology in Cooperation with National Technical University of Athens

With a sense of responsibility and honor, DNA Sequence SRL announces the application of Archaeogene technology to contribute in the continuing research of the NTUA Interdisciplinary Team, under the leadership of Prof. A. Moropoulou, concerning the findings on the Holy Aedicule of the Tomb of Christ at the Holy Sepulchre Church in Jerusalem. The company uses cutting-edge technology to provide valuable information on estimating through metagenomics different historic periods deepening the scientific community’s knowledge on the findings and how they were preserved. The results of this innovative application, which is used for the first time, will be jointly announced in the near future and presented within the 2nd International TMM_CH Conference “Transdisciplinary Multispectral Modelling and Cooperation for the Preservation of Cultural Heritage” https://tmm-ch.com/
New Research Project for DNASequence SRL

DNASequence SRL is happy to announce that its research project, titled: “Microbiotic communities detection in archaeological excavation for the documentation of the historical research and new ways of protecting monuments of cultural heritage” within the framework of «RESEARCH – CREATE – INNOVATE » of the operational program: «Competition, entrepreneurship and Innovation », ESPA 2014 – 2020 (EU Funded). The research program is identified with the cutting edge technology of DNASequence, Metagenomics of Built Environments (MBE), that offers solutions in a wide range of issues, among others referring to Archaeology, restoration and conservation of archaeological artifacts. The unique technology of DNASequence SRL will be used in the excavations of Shallalat Gardens in Alexandria, Egypt, by the auspices of Archaeologist Kalliopi Limneou-Papakosta, in order to offer valuable information for the era under examination of the archaeologists on site, and further deepen their knowledge for the artifacts and their way of conservation.
DNA Sequence SRL in the new print edition of Days of Art in Greece

Days of Art in Greece is the one magazine presenting the true benefits of the country and keeps rewarding every effort that promotes original creation within the society. In its latest edition, DNA Sequence SRL has its own place, in order to showcase its technical know-how and solutions for the sector of Art and Archaeology. DNA Sequence SRL is a biotech company aiming to embed the DNA technology in business practices. The company provides integrated and personalized solutions using cutting edge technology. New technologies offer, among others, the ability to record the biodiversity in the area of art and archaeology, offering genetic information in the global heritage. In the article that is signed by the co-founder and company CEO Mr. Antonios Salakidis, it is described in prose, the application of biotechnology in our lives and the DNA sequencing methodology, which allows the spotting of dangerous agents and the definition of the diversity of microorganisms that inhabit the works of art, something that has significant impact in their restoration and maintenance. The technology that DNA Sequence SRL utilizes is Metagenomics of Built Environments (ΜΒΑ). This technology allows the definition of the total microbes of a sample and forms a total solution of identifying the pathogenic microbiotic elements of an environment, without the need of special testing for expected or well characterized pathogens. The sampling method is non evasive and can be applied to gas, liquid and solid surfaces. DNA Sequence SRL offers solutions of automated sampling procedures with on premises devices.
DNASequence SRL Hellas completed successfully the project awarded by INTRAKAT ΑΕΤΕ

DNASequence SRL Hellas completed successfully the project awarded by INTRAKAT ΑΕΤΕ regarding the study and report generation of the microbiotic load of the Ellinikon construction site. DNASequence SRL Hellas, is a company active in the biotechnology sector and the development of pioneering and innovative solutions based on the metagenomic technologies. The project materialization started with the successful sample gathering of 60 samples from various areas of the construction site, reaching sample depths of 4 meters (Jun 30th, 2020 and July 1st, 2020) Sampling gathering included the accumulation of soil from specific spots for the purpose of metagenomic analysis of the microbiotic environment and possible microbiotic pollution. The analysis procedure of the 60 samples was based on the metagenomic technology 16S rRNA, that is an important tool for the attribution of the microbiotic environment in the soil. The approach through 16S rRNA technology, offers increased sensitivity compared to the current technological alternatives. The main advantage of the project is that the full recording of the microbiotic environments was completed before any intervention, through Next Generation Sequencing technology. This approach offers the advantage of creating a biological index for the pollution possibility, caused by human intervention, through monitoring. Additionally, it offers the possibility of monitoring the effectiveness of any interventions scheduled in the future. For this specific project, DNA Sequence collaborated with the Chemical Engineering school of NTUA, achieving the combination of the chemical analysis of the samples along with the microbiotic environments, a process that was included in the deliverables. Antonios Salakidis, General Manager of DNASequence, extended his gratitude to INTRAKAT for the trust that it showed in awarding DNASequence with such an innovative project. This is the first private sector project that metagenomic technologies have been implemented by a construction company of Greece. He also expressed his gratitude for NTUA and Prof. Antonia Moropoulou for the immaculate collaboration throughout the project cycle.
Microbiome monitoring services for hospitals

We offer custom-tailored microbiome analysis and monitoring solutions meaning that we approach each project independently. The custom tailored approach significantly improve our understanding of the microbiome in health and disease. We use Next Generation Sequencing (NGS) to identify and record the microbial communities. Based on the results we monitor departments with portable devices in the field and in the laboratory to access the files for subsequent bioinformatics analysis. We use the Oxford Nanopore’s 1D Rapid method, which gives us the important advantage of fast and easy sample preparation. This methodological approach recognizes specific biological species, strains and pathogens with the required precision based on biomarkers. This approach is selected because of the lower cost and price/performance ratio for the rapid metagenomics analysis process. Applying advanced computational meta-genomics methods will record the level of the microbial community of the sample, its complexity, and the rapid real-time pathogen identification of antibiotic resistance profiling. The results will be recorded in a database that includes raw data, the results of bioinformatics analysis (sequences, biomarkers, and species) and in addition, a series of metadata on sampling dates, spatial data as described. The result will be a detailed report, rich in data, documenting the results of the hospital microbiome. Application examples are: Intensive care units are special departments in hospitals that provide intensive medical care for patients suffering from severe and life-threatening diseases or injuries. Operating rooms are important hospital wards where most surgical procedures are performed. These areas are subjected to strict cleaning procedures such as sterilization, disinfection, and removal of contaminants (e.g., dust and organic waste). Cleanrooms are facilities used for ensuring quality and safety of many production processes. Ambulances which are tasked with transporting at-risk individuals in immunocompromised states. Hospital Wastewaters contain higher loads of micro-pollutants and antimicrobial resistance markers. Get in touch with our experts and find out what the benefits for your organization would be!
